More than worth a visit, Vin de Table in Copenhagen!
It is usually difficult and time-consuming to find a good wine shop in a foreign city where you are on holiday. So I’d like to introduce you to my personal favourite in Copenhagen: Vin de Table at Frederikssundsvej 33 specialises in organic and biodynamic wines, many of which are produced without additives – including the so-called natural wines. The wines range from classic to unusual.
But what, in my opinion makes a good wine shop? An affectionately and passionately selected range, including some rare wines that are hard to find. As well as a good range, it is particularly important to me that the staff has a sound knowledge of wine and is able to communicate this in a friendly and understandable way. Good advice requires not only expertise, but also the patience and empathy to listen attentively to the customer. After all, not every wine that you like is equally suitable for everyone.
I was pleasantly surprised at Vin de Table: the owner’s expertise and charm made shopping a real pleasure. I was served with humour and friendliness, and I fully share the philosophy of the house – that a good wine can only come from a living soil.
Finally, a wine shop should also have fairly calculated prices. It doesn’t help anyone, neither the winemaker nor the end consumer, if rare wines are sold at several times the price of the winery or are only available to a certain clientele of buyers. This makes it almost impossible for most customers to try these wines and broaden their horizons. Fortunately this was not the case here. I was able to buy the bottles I wanted without having to join an exclusive club or anything like that.
As I was travelling light by train, I had to decide on two wines in the end. This made it very difficult for me to choose, as I would have liked to buy more. Here is my selection:
- 2019 Domaine de l’Anglore Tavel Vintage
- 2020 Radikon Pinot Grigio Sivi
Shopping at Vin de Table was a great pleasure. Next time I’m travelling to Copenhagen, another visit to this wonderful wine shop is at the top of my list.
Vin de Table is more than just a wine shop – it’s a place where you can feel the passion for wine in every bottle. A must for any wine lover visiting Copenhagen!
